WARNING: This beta version of Digita Desktop Acquire is ONLY compatible with Mac OS 8.5 on the iMac. If you have Mac OS version 8.1 you must upgrade to Mac OS version 8.5 first.
Digita Desktop Acquire is a plug-in acquire module for Adobe PhotoDeluxe and Adobe PhotoShop that allows you to view and download the pictures stored in your Kodak DC220 or DC260 Zoom digital camera. This document contains information about using Digita Desktop™ Acquire software with the iMac.
Installation Instructions
1. Disable any anti-virus software before running the installer. To do this, restart your computer while holding down the shift key. This disables all extensions.
2. Double-click on the Installer inside the Digita Desktop Acquire 1b folder and click on the CONTINUE button.
3. Read the FlashPoint Technology, Inc. End-User License Agreement and press the AGREE button to continue.
4. Choose Easy Install from the Installation Type pop-up menu. Go to Select Folder and navigate to the PLUG-INS folder of PhotoShop or PhotoDeluxe. In the PLUG-INS folder of your application, select the IMPORT/EXPORT folder of PhotoShop or the ACQUIRE/EXPORT folder of PhotoDeluxe to specify where the installer will locate Digita Desktop Acquire.
5. Click install and follow the instructions on your screen. You must restart your computer to use the new software.
Camera Connection
Connect your Kodak DC220 or DC260 digital camera to one of the USB ports on your iMac using the USB cable provided with your camera. There is a USB port located on the iMac keyboard opposite the USB mouse connection. If this is unavailable, there is an additional port located on the side of the iMac.
Set the Mode dial on the camera to Connect. Your are now ready to access your images through the Digita Desktop Acquire module using PhotoShop or PhotoDeluxe.
Special Instructions for Using Digita Desktop Acquire with PhotoDeluxe
1. Start the PhotoDeluxe application.
2. Select Get Photo and choose the Get Photo tab.
3. Click on the OTHER button and choose Digita Desktop Acquire... as your Input Source.
4. Click OK.
5. Click on the button with the Scanner icon located above the OTHER button to begin the acquire process.
6. The Camera Contents window that appears contains a folder displaying a thumbnail of the most recent image taken. A folder of images is represented by a stacked slide icon.
7. Double-click on the folder to view thumbnails of all your images.
8. At the top of the Camera Contents window is a Sort button and next to it, three buttons that allow you to choose between Large, Medium and Small Thumbnail views.
9. On each Thumbnail image, you will see a Microphone icon OR a Speaker icon. The Microphone icon indicates that you can add sound annotation to your image if the application you are using supports this feature. Currently, Digita Desktop Acquire does not support this feature. The Speaker icon indicates that sound has been added to the image and by clicking on the icon, you can play back the sound. Since PhotoShop and PhotoDeluxe do not preserve sound annotation, if you wish to save the sound added to your images in the camera, select the files you wish to save and DRAG THEM TO THE DESKTOP. You can then use the Kodak Acquire module that shipped with the camera to access your images containing sound annotation. See the Kodak Manual for information on playing, recording and deleting sound from your images.
10. Double-clicking on a Thumbnail image transfers and opens the image in PhotoDeluxe. Select multiple Thumbnail images by holding down the shift key and clicking once to select additional images.
11. To download Burst, Timelapse and Album groups, double-click on the folder to open that group of images. Select all of the images in the folder and double-click or drag to the desktop to save these images to your hard drive.
NOTE: Digita Desktop Acquire supports viewing and retrieving your camera’s images. Use the controls on your camera to delete your images.

Known Issues with Digita Desktop Acquire Beta Software
As with all pre-release beta software, be sure that you read the license agreement before installing this software on your computer. FlashPoint and Kodak do not offer technical support for this beta software. FlashPoint would like to hear any feedback you may have during your evaluation of this software. These are known issues and will be addressed in future versions of Digita Desktop Acquire.
1. The FlashPix format is not completely supported by Digita Desktop Acquire. When using the acquire module to access FlashPix images in your camera, select the images for transfer and DRAG THEM TO YOUR DESKTOP. You can then open these images from PhotoShop 5.0 and PhotoDeluxe 2.0 FILE pull down menu. Select Open and navigate to the location of your FlashPix image files.
2. The beta version of Digita Desktop Acquire expires on December 31, 1998. To get the latest information on how to obtain a final version of this software, go to www.flashpnt.com/digita/digita.html.
3. Fatal Error 410 - Other applications such as Corel Artisan and PictureWorks PhotoEnhancer that support PhotoShop plug-ins are not compatible with Digita Desktop Acquire.
4. Unknown Error 56567 - You may see this error when downloading multiple files. You can dismiss the error message and continue downloading files.
5. Digita Desktop Acquire plug-in does not show up under the CAMERA button in PhotoDeluxe. You must locate the plug-in under the button marked OTHER.
